Me and my friends (Boys only. Girls can’t handle it cos the trip rules are crazy) are planning a round trip from Durban to Johannesburg, Pretoria, Bloemfontein, Capetown, East london, Port Elizabeth, a little bit of Margate and Portshepston, and then back to Durban, that is in September 10 days holidays. Is driving better? If not, should we use national busses (like Greyhound, Translux, Intercape, etc..)

There is no substitute to driving no bus or train schedules that coul dmake you holiday feel up with running around trying to make it at bus stops at odd hours of the day and plus you get to decide when to leave and when to stay longer bit. crusing in your car beats all other types of traveling.

As a frequent bus traveller, I know that those bus trips are soul destroying, even with friends. There’s such beautiful scenery, and the roads are decent enough with enough stops along the way. Plus you can stop for as long as you want if you’re driving, take detours to interesting small towns, and make the travelling part of the holiday. The bus is for broke people who just want to “get there”. NOT what a holiday is all about.

Hi Diesel! You’re not fair! Why no girls allowed??? I bet us girls can handle the trip rules!! lol!
I think driving is better for this. You and your friends can then decide between yourselves where you want to stop, stay for longer than planned, simply come home whenever, take turns driving, each help out with the petrol, toll fee money etc. Buses are also strict and you wont have as much fun on the bus and you would if you were in your own vehicle with your own rules.
Have a great trip!!

I can’t believe you asked this question. Being the smartypants that you are, you should know that driving is the only way to do it. I never liked the buses when I stayed in Pretoria and had to go to Cape Town. Driving was always the best. Of course I always managed to get really drunk and leave the driving to my buddies.
Hey, have a good time on yur trip there. And I like the new hair.

as long as you know exactly where you going in South Africa, get to know the road maps, the safety of the country, e.g. where to go, what to avoid e.g. like stopping next to the roadside etc. Be careful and take your guns with…!
